'The ATTA Girls'
The Air Transport Auxiliary' was a civilian organisation established at the start of 'World War Two.'
The ATA ferried Aircraft to factories, maintenance points, and active squadrons' airfields. They also flew service personnel on urgent duty from one place to another and performed some 'Ambulance Work' too.
The ATA allowed 'Female Pilots' to ferry aircraft, this
is very special and is 'Aviation History'.
The female Pilots were nicknamed 'The ATTA Girls'.(Spelled with two Ts)

'The WASPs'
'The Women's Air Service Pilots' or 'WASPs' was a 'Civilian Organisation'. (It was also known as The Women's Army Service Pilots' or 'Women's Auxiliary Service Pilots'.)
The WASPS became trained Pilots, they tested and ferried aircraft, and trained other pilots. The purpose was to free male pilots for important 'Combat Duties' during 'World War Two'.

Amy Johnson was the first lady to fly 'Solo' from England to Australia, Amy also set many long distant records ... in 1940 Amy joined 'ATS', in 1941 her aircraft disappeared it was reported that the combination of adverse weather conditions and no fuel made Amy decide to bail out of her aircraft, crashing into the Thames Estuary near Herne Bay.
