The Flying Circus
'The Flying Circus' was an 'Aerobatic Airshow' very popular in the '1920s', with solo shows dating back to '1909'. This was the early years of 'Aviation' and this would become 'The Modern Airshow' today.
In Europe, in '1909' the 'First Official Airshow' took place at the end of August in France. The French people referred to the show as an 'Aviation Meeting'.
The 'Rhyl Airshow' takes place at the end of August every year, which coincides with the very 'First Airshow 'and that is very special. I think it would be very nice to include some of the history of 'The Rhyl Air Show' ...
Barnstorming
The 'Barnstormer' was the name given to a 'Stunt Pilot'. The pilot often worked solo or in small teams,
many of the pilots joined up together and performed in 'Flying Circuses.'
'Aerobatic Maneuvers' included 'Spins', 'Dives', 'Loop The Loop', and 'Barrel Rolls'.
'Aerialists' performed as they 'Danced and 'Walked On The Wings'. Other stunts included 'Plane Transfers' and even a game of 'Tennis'.
The Barnstormer was very competitive!
Barnstormers performed all kinds of different stunts some specialized in 'Aerobatic Menoevers' and others were 'Aerialists'.
